1.1. Do you like trees?

Yes, I love trees. Whenever I have time, I love to jog in a park near my house which has a lot of big trees. Wherever there’re trees, the air is fresher and the temperature is cooler.

1.2. Would you like to live in a place that has lots of trees?

Yes, I wish that there were more trees on the street where I live. That would definitely make my window view more colorful and the air more breathable.

1.3. Do you think places with trees attract more visitors than places with few trees?

Even though I love trees, I’d say this is not the case at all. Tourists are generally more into historic places, restaurants or places with cultural activities. I don’t think whether there’re trees or not would affect this preference.

1.4. Do you like to go to a forest?

I would like to trek through some of Vietnam’s most beautiful national parks such as Cúc Phương and Cát Tiên. I’d like to visit the Amazon rainforest in the future also, I’ve heard they have wonderful animals there.

  • National parks: vườn quốc gia

1.5. Is there a forest near your hometown?

Sample 1: Not that I know of, the nearest one is probably hundreds of kilometers away in another province. I live in Ho Chi Minh city and we hardly have any greenery.

Sample 2:

Bình Định is a province in Central Vietnam, situated along the coastline of the East Sea. Depending on the specific location of your hometown within Bình Định, there may be forests or natural suburban areas near your hometown. However, detailed information about the existence and proximity of specific forests would need to be determined based on your exact location. This information can be obtained through local authorities or residents in your area.

  • Greenery (n): cây cỏ, mảng xanh

1.6. Did you ever climb trees when you were a child?

Unfortunately no, my parents were overprotective and I never got to do anything fun. I understand where they’re coming from but I really wish that they would have allowed me to climb trees with my cousins.

  • Overprotective (adj): bảo vệ con thái quá

1.7. Are there any important trees in your country?

Rice is a vital part of agriculture and a major economic contributor in many countries around the world. It is primarily used as a staple food for people, and it can also be processed into various products such as rice, bread, noodles, and even as an ingredient for beverages like beer and sake. Rice plays a crucial role in the economy and livelihoods of people in many regions.

Moreover, rice holds significant cultural importance in various countries, manifested in festivals and ceremonies related to the rice harvest. For example, in Vietnam, the rice harvest festival is an important occasion for communities to come together and celebrate the season’s yield.

  • Agriculture: nông nghiệp
  • Livelihoods: sinh kế

1.8. Have you ever planted a tree?

Yes, I have planted trees before. I believe it’s essential to contribute to environmental conservation and sustainability. I’ve taken part in tree planting initiatives organized by local environmental groups and schools. It’s a fulfilling experience to watch these trees grow and know that I’ve played a small role in making a positive impact on the environment.

1.9. Do you think more people should plant trees?

Absolutely, I believe more people should plant trees. Trees play a vital role in maintaining ecological balance, combating climate change, and improving air quality. They provide oxygen, sequester carbon dioxide, and offer habitat to wildlife. Moreover, planting trees can also enhance the beauty of our surroundings and create a more pleasant environment. It’s a simple and effective way for individuals to contribute to a healthier planet, and I encourage more people to get involved in tree planting initiatives.

  • Habitat to wildlife: môi trường sống cho động vật hoang dã
  • Our surroundings: môi trường xung quanh của chúng tôi

1.10. Do you think we should plant more trees?

Yes, I strongly believe that planting more trees is essential. Trees are critical for various reasons. They help purify the air by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen. They also provide a habitat for wildlife and contribute to biodiversity. Moreover, trees can help combat climate change by sequestering carbon, reducing the urban heat island effect, and improving overall environmental quality. Therefore, planting more trees is a practical and effective way to address environmental issues and create a healthier, more sustainable future.

1.11. What would you say are the benefits of having trees?

The benefits of having trees are numerous. Firstly, trees are crucial for environmental sustainability as they absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen, helping to combat climate change. They improve air quality by filtering out pollutants and providing shade. Trees also contribute to biodiversity by serving as habitats for various wildlife.

In urban areas, trees offer relief from the heat, reduce the urban heat island effect, and provide a more pleasant environment for residents. They can lower energy costs by shading buildings in the summer and acting as windbreaks in the winter. Additionally, trees have aesthetic and recreational value, enhancing the beauty of our surroundings and offering spaces for relaxation and outdoor activities.

Overall, trees provide a wide range of ecological, environmental, and societal benefits, making them indispensable for our well-being and the health of the planet.

  • Windbreaks: chắn gió
