The bar chart depicts the proportion of inhabitants in five Australian cities (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Hobart) who purchased and consumed coffee and tea in the previous four weeks.

Overall, except for Adelaide, it is clear that going to a café for coffee or tea was the most prevalent behaviour. Furthermore, in every city, the percentage of people who bought instant coffee was always larger than that of fresh coffee.

While roughly 61% of Sydney residents drank tea or coffee in a cafe, the proportion for Melbourne was marginally higher, at around 63 percent. Meanwhile, over 45 percent of residents in Sydney and Melbourne bought instant coffee, while 44 percent and 43 percent bought fresh coffee, respectively.

Moving on to the remaining cities, Hobart had the highest percentage of individuals drinking coffee or tea at a café, followed by Brisbane and Adelaide, with roughly 51 percent and 49 percent, respectively. At the same period, almost 53% of people in Brisbane and Hobart purchased instant coffee, compared to roughly 50% in Adelaide. Finally, the percentage of individuals buying fresh coffee in Brisbane and Adelaide was nearly identical, at approximately 34%, while the figure in Hobart was somewhat higher, at around 38%.

IELTS Writing Task 2

Task 2: People are consuming more and more sugar-based drinks. Why is this happening? What can be done to reduce sugary drink consumption?

Sample

Sugar-based beverages are becoming increasingly popular as a refreshment option in today’s society. However, it has several negative health implications, including diabetes and obesity. In this essay, I would present the possible reasons leading to this situation as well as offer some suggestions to help consumers cut down on their intake of these products.

To begin with, sugar and caffeine are the key causes that make it difficult for people to suppress this habit. For example, these substances deliver immediate energy increases, allowing users to be more focused and productive at work. However, they rapidly feel weary and must consume another soft drink to regain their vitality. As a result, people get unknowingly hooked to sugary beverages, leading to a situation in which they may feel typical symptoms such as headaches, exhaustion, and poor focus if they try to quit drinking energy drinks. Furthermore, meals would taste better with gas drinks, especially while eating fast food, which is one of the most popular cuisines worldwide.

Although limiting the use of sugar-based beverages is a challenging endeavor, certain steps may be taken to dissuade individuals from drinking them on a daily basis. To begin with, a hefty tax should be placed on such items since it would undoubtedly raise their price, causing individuals to think twice before purchasing a coke or soda. This should have an impact on the number of sugary drinks consumed. Another option is to have more educational dissemination efforts that encourage and advise people to have a healthy diet and live an active lifestyle, an dhighlight specific ailments linked to the excessive intake of sugar-based beverages and encourage people to avoid them.

In conclusion, as described in the essay, the problem of individuals drinking more sugar-based drinks is driven by a variety of circumstances. Despite this, there are many steps that may be taken to prevent people from drinking sugary drinks.
