IELTS Writing Task 1

Task 1: The maps below show an industrial area in the town of Norbiton, and planned future development of the site.

Sample

The given maps depict the predicted development of the Norbiton industrial area over time.

In general, it is intended for the specified region to undergo a significant renovation in order to construct more residential amenities while eventually razing the factories.

Regarding the first map, the town area is currently comparatively empty. The town is surrounded by a street and a river on the North and South sides, respectively. Eight factories circulate a significant portion of the path along the two branches of the traffic roundabout in the town’s centre.

In the planned proposal, the traffic circle is expected to have two more lanes, one of which would cross the river directly to a new housing area on its north side. Another branch is anticipated to be surrounded by homes and stores to the west of that traffic circle, while the other leads to a different, smaller traffic circle on the original major route. The final branch will be located on the east side of the main intersection, from which people may access the medical centre in the northwest corner, the playground in the centre of the feeder road, and the school at the end of the street.

• Câu overall, phân tích rõ 2 mặt: mức độ phát triển và hướng phát triển.
• Body 1: Mô tả bản đồ số 1, theo mức chi tiết.
• Body 2: So sánh sự thay đổi trong bản đồ số 2 so với số 1, sử dụng cấu trúc câu phức để lấy điểm.

IELTS Writing Task 2

Task 2: As well as making money, businesses should also have social responsibilities. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Although firms have always aimed to generate profit, it is becoming more and more frequent to find individuals discussing the social responsibilities that businesses should have. During the course of this essay, I would bring this situation to objective analysis before drawing a rational conclusion. 

On the one hand, it is relatively comprehensible  that businesses need to generate revenue in order to thrive in a cutthroat environment. It makes sense that any business’s top priority should be to pay for its ongoing expenses, such as employee salaries and payments for buildings and utilities. In addition to these expenditures, businesses must also make upgrades and innovations in order to continue to be prosperous. Any worries about social obligations become irrelevant unless a firm is able to cover its expenses or meet the continually changing expectations of the customer base. In other words, a firm can only contribute positively to society only if revenues are sound. 

The mission of a company should not, however, be to maximise revenue alone; instead, it should be to serve a greater social purpose. Owners and managers have a social responsibility to treat their employees fairly and not take advantage of them. To guarantee that employees have a high standard of living, they could, for instance, pay their staff a decent amount of income, based on the recommendation from the authorities. In addition, there is the concept of companies contributing a portion of their income to local charities, environmental causes, or educational programmes with the purpose of improving the general welfare of the local communities. Last but not least, rather than attempting to minimise their tax payments through accounting loopholes, corporate heads should be proactive in contributing to society by complying with their financial duty.

In conclusion, I uphold the opinion that businesses should give their social duties the amount of consideration being equal to their financial goals.

Đoạn 1: Người viết thể hiện sự thừa nhận rằng mục đích quan trọng của doanh nghiệp là phải tối ưu hóa lợi nhuận. Nếu điều kiện tiên quyết này không diễn ra, không thể có sự phát triển và hỗ trợ cho các hoạt động xã hội. Đoạn này được kết thức bằng 1 câu chốt để nhấn mạnh tầm quan trọng của điều kiện này. 

Đoạn 2: Người viết chuyển quan điểm sang ủng hộ các doanh nghiệp đóng góp vào phúc lợi xã hội bằng cách nêu lên 1 số giải pháp có thể được thực thi, và gắn liền với hoạt động sản xuất kinh doanh. Mục đích chính là cố gắng không bị lạc đề sang những đóng góp không liên quan tới khái niệm “business” để tránh bị xa cách quá mức với ideas trong đoạn 1.
